Talking Talent Pipelines: Index AR Solutions Participates in 2023 CEWD Workforce Development Summit

Index AR Solutions Senior Vice President Scott Sommers participated in the 2023 Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) Summit recently, sharing insight and perspective on how companies can use multimodal learning technologies from Index to create talent pipelines.

The annual Workforce Development Summit assembles energy industry thought leaders for networking, strategic dialogues, and insight into best practices within the industry and beyond. A key theme of the summit was how the energy industry’s education and training leaders are exploring ways to modernize job training and expedite work-readiness.

The CEWD is a non-profit consortium of more than 120 energy companies, contractors, associations, unions, educators, and business partners working together to ensure a skilled, diverse workforce pipeline to meet future industry needs. The 2023 CEWD Summit featured dozens of session tracks focused on the business of workforce development.

Index has participated in the Summit for several years now, showcasing how companies such as MidAmerican Energy Company are transforming apprenticeships and staff training with the addition of interactive Index eBooks™ and Augmented Reality (AR) mobile apps to their educational offerings.

At last year’s Summit, MidAmerican received a CEWD Impact Award for implementing a series of initiatives and programs that promote a skilled, diverse talent pipeline for the energy sector. The Index client earned a Chairman’s Award for Workforce Development Leadership, CEWD’s highest honor. Among other criteria, the award recognized innovation in approaches to training and upskilling, specifically the work being done with Index.

In 2021, Index was one of the first three companies to join CEWD as Associate Members, which include Fortune Global 500 professional services firm Accenture and DitchWitch, a leading provider of underground utility construction equipment.
