Index AR Solutions Introduces New Solutions for Electrical Utilities at EPRI Augmented Reality Workshop

A number of powerful Index AR Solutions offerings were introduced to augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) thought leaders from utilities and other companies from around the world at the recent Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Augmented Reality for Leading Edge Utilities workshop in Mountain View, Calif.

The conference, held April 24-25, 2018, focused on technology leadership in artificial intelligence, AR, and VR, bringing together industry-specific subject matter experts and stakeholders in an idea-sharing, collaborative forum focused on improving performance on the electric grid.

Scott Sommers, vice president for client and corporate development at Index AR Solutions, demonstrated several new Index AR apps created for the utility industry including the LineAssist SuperApp®, a highly visual mobile training and field application that helps electrical utility linemen perform complex maintenance tasks more safely and faster.

“A growing number of utilities are relying on Index AR Solutions to deliver game-changing business results,” said Sommers. “It was an honor to participate in the conference and interact with a group of thought leaders focused on technology adoption in our nation’s strategic electric grid.”

Many Index AR Solutions offerings are purpose-built for the electrical utility industry, designed to improve safety, capture knowledge transfer, and standardize best practices across a workforce – ultimately boosting productivity in the field.

“New AR and VR technologies, such as those being developed by Index AR, are changing the way training, knowledge transfer, and everyday work is being done within the utility industry,” said John Simmins, EPRI Technical Executive and augmented reality research lead.
