Demonstrating the Power of AR at the DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition

In late January, representatives from Index AR Solutions attended DistribuTECH 2018, the utility industry’s leading transmission and distribution conference and exhibition.

Scott Sommers, Vice President of Client and Corporate Development, and John Arczynski, Director of Operations, joined industry thought leaders from all over the world to network, share knowledge and problem solve with worldwide utilities and fellow product and service providers.

The pair represented Index AR Solutions on the exhibition show floor, presenting from the booth of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a non-profit organization that conducts R&D related to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for public benefit.

Sommers and Arczynski engaged show attendees throughout the event, offering demonstrations of the company’s new LineAssist SuperApp® – a powerful augmented reality product that captures a set of best practices for common pole mounted voltage regulators and control panels, giving linemen the safest and most appropriate process to follow.

The company’s manhole visualization application was also showcased during the event, as well as a voltage regulator training and maintenance application that helped a southwestern utility reduce error rates by more than 88% from the traditional use of manuals and paper.

Arczynski said that AR was a hot topic at the event, with utilities keen on learning more about how the technology can deliver real business value today.

“AR is increasingly a critical component for utility workers,” said Arczynski. “Utilities are very receptive to how AR can boost safety, reduce errors and streamline knowledge transfer, among many other capabilities.”

It was the second year in a row that Index AR Solutions attended the annual DistribuTECH event, further reinforcing the important role that AR is playing across the industry.

“We enjoyed the many demonstrations and conversations we had with attendees,” Arczynski said. “The future of Index AR Solutions for utilities is very bright.”
